So I randomly had 4 stories come out in the last week, so here’s one post for them all.

The Falling, a horror story, in Daikaijuzine. A new flight attendant learns there are some things you don’t talk about in the air. Free to read! Originally published in audio on the podcast Thirteen (on Patreon, dated Dec 18, 2023)

The Morrigan, a folk horror story, in Illustrated Worlds magazine. A woman dealing with the aftereffects of cancer treatment takes a job caring for an elderly woman who exhibits strange behavior.

The Ever-Running Bath, a horror story, in Xanax Hamster, a magazine of trunk horror fics. A woman injured on a desert hike struggles with her surroundings and her past.

The Sea is Full of Ghosts in the anthology Dark Waters Vol. 2 from Dark Waters Press. A deep-sea merman encounters the ghost of a drowned sailor.

I am thrilled to say that my horror story “The Falling” will appear on the podcast Thirteen as a Patreon exclusive!

A new flight attendant learns there are some things you don’t talk about in the air.

During the drink service, the passengers seemed entirely normal, asking for juice or sparkling water, munching on dry little cookies from filmy packages. They had carry-ons, books, headphones, neck pillows, the same as always. And yet, Jackie was clutching the handle of the cart so hard her fingers turned white.

It didn’t help that the drink service created its own tension, worsening the quiet claustrophobia to be found up here in the wide-open sky. A seat on the aisle or near a door of a plane was like a seat anywhere, unremarkable. But a passenger in a window seat would need to wait on two others to move out of their way before even reaching the aisle, and the drink cart made it worse, filling the whole aisle, sealing off entire portions of the cabin as it moved. Today Emma felt like she was constantly on the wrong side of it.

Air date TBA

Thirteen is a monthly audio fiction anthology podcast featuring atmospheric, slow burn, spooky stories. Stories that will make you smile, break your heart…and have you wishing for a night light.

Oh hey it's release day!

“Weird West” is a genre that blends frontier settings with sci fi and/or horror elements, and this anthology features stories about queer characters encountering the truly weird. Edited by the wonderful Julie Bozza.

Details on all the stories in the anthology and how to order

Also: Universal book link

My story is called “The Train Ticket,” a horror piece with (because it’s me) a smidge of romance:
A man finds himself holding a train ticket to Hell after accidentally attempting to rob a ghost train. While seeking shelter from a deadly blizzard in an isolated prairie cabin, he plays host to an adversary and a ghostly former lover, and faces questions of his own guilt, innocence, and intention.

If it was on Ao3, these would be the tags:

Mystery, paranormal mystery, blizzard, existential crisis while undergoing a physical crisis, namely freezing to death, wrestling with morals, unexpected visitor, even more unexpected visitor, pioneers, wagon trains, railroads, train robbery, prostitution, murder, undertaking, vanishing, disease, the wild hunt (ghost riders in the sky), if it’s Old West spooky I threw it in there

I had a ton of fun with this– the whole anthology is wonderful!

Hey, it's the birthday of my fic "The Island," so I decided to share it again!

Please note that this is a HORROR FIC.

What Raymond could see of the island from the shore was that it was rocky, with occasional trees whose roots were probably the only reason that the soil hadn’t crumbled into the lake years ago. It was the perfect place to bury a body. If Raymond was really going to bury one.
And little by little, he realized that he was.

Y'all, I am so pleased to announce that the cryptozoology zine "Paranormalcy" is now in pre-orders!
https://vinegarzines.gumroad.com/

The zine includes my original horror fic "Kirkegrim." A murderess trying to dispose of a body on consecrated ground faces the spectral guardian dog of the graveyard.

Excerpt:
It was unlucky for Mallory that she was so distracted by Janice’s messy habits as a tenant that she failed to notice one other major difference between Janice and the other women that Mallory had killed (because of course, Janice had been destined for the grave as soon as she licked up the jam on her wrist). Janice was, it turned out, quite unexpectedly intelligent. She alone guessed correctly that the source of her continued illness was not some unnameable disease, but arsenic poisoning.
Unfortunately for Janice, she did not discover this fact until it was too late to save her life. Unfortunately for Mallory, Janice made a futile attempt to flee her death and Mallory’s victory on her final night, by rushing out of the house into the dark. Without Janice’s body, Mallory could not prove her death, and so would not take ownership of her possessions, or collect her life insurance. Mallory was forced to give chase.
